Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
PeakX ("PeakX", "we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable data protection law. PeakX operates from the United Arab Emirates and serves users globally. We comply with the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (PDPL) and, where applicable, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR/UK GDPR) and other local laws that may apply to users in their respective jurisdictions.
This policy applies to users of the PeakX mobile application and any related services.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Data You Provide
When you register, build your profile, or use PeakX features, we collect:
- Names
- Phone numbers
- Email addresses
- Usernames
- Passwords (stored in hashed form; never readable by PeakX staff)
- Billing addresses
- Debit/credit card numbers (processed securely via our payment provider; we do not store full card details)
- Contact or authentication data
- Contact preferences
- Skydive licence and membership information
- Profile photo
- About me / bio
- Instagram handle
- User type (athlete or coach)
- Jump count
- Skill levels
- Home dropzone and affiliated dropzones
- Languages spoken
- Jump logbook entries
- Photos uploaded by users
- Reviews and ratings
- Messages and chat content
- Event descriptions and event participation
- Coach inquiries and booking requests
- For coaches: services offered, pricing information, and availability information
2.2 Data We Collect Automatically
When you use the App, we automatically collect:
- Approximate location
- Check-in location at dropzones
- Precise location data (when you grant permission — see Section 5)
- App activity and interactions
- Search history within the App
- Feature usage analytics
- Device and browser information
- Payment transaction information
- Customer support communications
2.3 Data from Third Parties
- If you sign in via Apple or Google, we receive basic profile data (name, email) as permitted by those platforms
- Payment processors may share transaction confirmation data
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account
- To provide and improve the jump logging, coach booking, and discovery features
- To facilitate payments and communicate about bookings
- To send transactional notifications (booking confirmations, reminders)
- To provide customer support
- To detect fraud and ensure platform security
- To comply with legal obligations
We rely on the following legal bases for processing (under UAE PDPL and, where applicable, GDPR):
- Contract performance – for account management and booking services
- Legitimate interests – for fraud prevention, security, and improving the App
- Consent – for location data and optional marketing communications
- Legal obligation – for compliance with applicable laws
4. User-Generated Content
Jump Logs, reviews, and other content you submit may be visible to other users of PeakX. Please do not include sensitive personal data of third parties in your submissions. You are responsible for any content you post and must have the right to share it.
We may use aggregated, anonymised jump data to generate platform statistics (e.g., popular dropzones, common disciplines). This data cannot be used to identify you.
5. Location Data
PeakX requests access to your device's location when you:
- Search for nearby dropzones or events
- Log a jump and choose to record the jump location automatically
Location access is optional. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. Revoking location access will not affect your ability to use the App, though some discovery features will be limited.
We do not sell your location data to third parties and do not track your location in the background.
6. Sharing Your Data
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following circumstances:
- Coaches: when you book a session, your name and contact details are shared with the relevant Coach to facilitate the booking
- Service providers: we use third-party services for hosting, analytics, payment processing, and push notifications, all of whom are contractually bound to process data only on our behalf
- Legal requirements: we may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of PeakX or others
- Business transfers: if PeakX is acquired or merges with another entity, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is subject to a different privacy policy
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account:
- Your profile and Jump Logs are deleted within 30 days
- Booking records are retained for 7 years for legal and financial compliance
- Anonymised, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely
You can request earlier deletion of specific data by contacting us (see Section 13).
8. Your Rights
Under UAE PDPL and other applicable laws (including GDPR for EU/UK users), you may have the right to:
- Access – request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification – ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure – request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations)
- Restriction – ask us to limit how we process your data
- Portability – receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Object – object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent – where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@peakxapp.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are located in the EU or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (e.g. the ICO in the UK, or your national EU supervisory authority). UAE users may contact the UAE Data Office.
9. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in risk to your rights, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by applicable law, including the UAE Data Office under the UAE PDPL.
10. International Data Transfers
PeakX is based in the UAE and your data may be processed there or in other countries where our service providers operate. If you are located in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with data transfer restrictions, please note:
- We transfer data only to countries or recipients that provide an adequate level of protection, or under appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses
- By using PeakX, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in the UAE and other countries
- We take steps to ensure your data receives equivalent protection regardless of where it is processed

11. Children's Privacy
PeakX is not directed at individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the App or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The updated policy will always be available in the App.
